A bit of my mind and lots off my chest

Yesterday was the last day of the third term and although it has been a stressful term for all of us, it doesn't give anybody the right to make negative remarks towards others in class. Comments like "Don't laugh at Michael" and "Shame, hy is ook maar net mens" I DO NOT APPRECIATE. There is a big difference between humour and rudeness. It is wicked to speak about somebody in his/her presence as if that person is not there. Anybody may laugh at me, as much as he/she wants. LIFE IS ALL ABOUT CHOICES! It's not what others think about me that matters. It's what I think about myself that is important to me. And I have never seen myself or anybody else as being more or less of a human being, unless people give me reason to. I mentioned in my profile that I accept everybody for who and what we are, that does NOT mean I tollerate anybody's nonsense or that I have or want to be anybody's/everybody's friend. So you don't have to pity me. Please guys, leave your stinking attitudes at home. We can all do without it. You are putting unnessasary strain on your hearts!

Creating NMN School Library Wiki

Today we were given time to work on our wikis. Lecturer also showed us how to create links to internal and external websites.

Creating a wiki

This week we had a lecture on how to create a wiki. It was exciting but unfortunately my team mates were absent and I had to work alone. I had to invite a friend into the group and this I had to do from another computer. Up to this point I enjoyed it very much. Then the problems started. When I switched my phone on to view my student number (as it serves as my user name) my phone rang. It was my deputy-principal and I had to leave the room. After I had spoken to her I got stuck on the computer because of some technical difficulty. At this stage I had already fallen behind and it was difficult for me to catch up as it was almost the end of the session. I left the campus feeling very frustrated.

Web re- evaluation test and essay

Lecturer handed back our tests today and discussed it with the class. I must say that I expected to do much worse. She gave us valuable information and tips on how to determine whether it is a spoof website or the real thing. She also remedied some general mistakes that students make when writing educational essays. I feel that I could have done better in my essay if I spent more time on it. I am looking forward to creating a wiki with two of my colleagues in class. They have excellent computer skills and I am looking forward to learning from them as well. I must admit that my computer skills have improved tremendously since the start of this course. An inspiring session.

An interesting discovery!

Hi there, linkers! I am extremely excited about all the new and exciting things that I am learning about the internet. It really opens up a whole new world! While updating my profile on my blog this morning, I realized that I could link onto bloggers that share my interests and browse through their profiles. I'm sure many of you know this already. I suppose I can now communicate with people all over the world, especially those who share in my interests? Whow! This is great stuff, man! It really gives a whole new meaning to the word DELICIOUS. Many thanks, Sandy!

Test

In today's test we had to evaluate two given websites. I could not really distinguish between fact and fiction on the first website. The next website was just as difficult for me. I think I expected websites that would have been more appropriate for learners as we are focussing on school libraries. I have also not been subjected to anything like this before, so I will not be discouraged, but just see this as another learning curve.
